An annual musical party in the garden: Servus!
Servus is an orchestra founded in 1987 that plays gypsy music from Hungary and Romania, supplemented with its own compositions and some Russian, Yiddish and Yugoslavian numbers. This music has been played in the countries of origin for centuries in restaurants and at parties and celebrations.
The orchestra was formed by members of the Wageningen, Utrecht and Delft student gypsy orchestras who did not want to give up gypsy music after graduating. The mixing of these three cultures (unprecedented in the history of gypsy Netherlands so far) has proven to be very successful.
The line-up of Servus has undergone some changes since its foundation, half of the orchestra has been active since 1987.
Servus has already given hundreds of performances and concerts and has received, among other things, the “golden violin” from the national Sinti and Roma organization.
