Miras Trio
Miras Trio, the roots of Portuguese music with a unique touch
Concert ‘Weaving the Thread of Life’ by the Miras Trio
The Miras Trio is a new Fado group, originating from Amsterdam. The Miras Trio consists of:
Sofia Pedro (Portugal) – vocals
Joana Almeida (Portugal) – guitar
Juan Sebastián Blanco (Colombia) – harp
We already know Joanna from Cacha Mundinho. On June 15th she will play with Juan Sebastián Blanco (harp) and Sofia Pedro (vocals)
In addition to the traditional Fado, the Miras Trio has incorporated special repertoire from the album “Ensaios” (rehearsals) by Alain Oulman and Amália Rodrigues – one of the most important duos (composer-singer) – in the history of Fado.
Since the 19th century, Fado has been a powerful expression of Portuguese identity, capturing the joy and sorrow of its people. This special concert is dedicated to Alain Oulman, the visionary composer who revolutionized Fado in the 1960s, “sculpting” it into the globally beloved music we know today.
By studying this album, the Miras Trio brings to life some beautiful songs that have never been officially played or recorded.
