Muziekvoorstelling Veluvine met ‘Billy Joel Experience’
In Nocturne, The Billy Joel Experience, together with the German string quartet La Finesse, presents a unique show in which the classical and pop sides of Billy Joel’s music merge into one enchanting whole.
The versatility of Billy Joel’s impressive oeuvre can hardly be overestimated. The master has always managed to move through all possible stylistic figures with apparent naturalness as a virtuoso. But there is, throughout his career, one constant factor in the music of the Piano Man: the classical influence. Bandleader Alexander Broussard of The Billy Joel Experience saw it as a challenge. The idea arose to make the duality within Joel’s work between pop and classical visible by placing the band opposite a string quartet, and gradually coming to the conclusion that one cannot exist without the other. In the German formation ‘La Finesse’ Broussard found the ideal interpretation for his idea. The international collaboration led to a show of international allure, where styles meet, fight and embrace each other. Together, this makes ‘Nocturne’ a show that brings together the poetry of the night and the timeless music of Billy Joel.
