The Casteelse Poort is the cultural-historical center of Wageningen and is housed on the remains of the old castle. The museum provides a fascinating account of the origins of the city on the Rhine. With models, paintings, photos and old objects.

In addition to temporary exhibitions, De Casteelse Poort presents two permanent exhibitions. The History of Wageningen covers 5,000 years of local history. Due to its strategically important location, Wageningen experienced a lot of war violence. During the Second World War she was in the line of fire. But peace was also signed here. This period is highlighted in Room 1940-1945, recently renovated and interesting for all ages. Local and regional artists exhibit in the adjacent Koetshuis.

The museum is wheelchair friendly and offers various tours on request.
