Cycle from Camping Park de Vuurkuil via the Beekhuizerzand, through the forest and along the heath towards Vierhouten. Along the way you will pass ‘The Hidden Village’ from the Second World War and you can view the rebuilt huts. The Hidden Village was a shelter for people in hiding in the forests of Vierhouten. Also make a stop in the ‘smallest city’ in the Netherlands: Staverden. Staverden received city rights in 1291 when Count Reinoud van Gelre planned to develop the place into a city. It never got further than a castle with a few outbuildings, but there is much to discover on the estate. In the old coach house you will find a beer brewery with delicious specialty beers and a cozy brasserie in the castle gardens.
