This 31 km cycle route (or 48 km with an extra loop) has been specially designed for the Open Monument Days 2022. The energy transition is central. The electrification of Apeldoorn in the 1920s is taken as a starting point here.
The monumental transformer houses from the 1920s, as it were, paved the way for the changes we are now facing. The cycle route connects various transformer houses.
Along the way you will receive tips for interesting objects such as old energy sources, historical monuments and art in the outdoor area. The route takes you through Ugchelen, Apeldoorn Center, the Maten and Lieren. The cycle route uses the cycle junction network and starts at the Leesten car park, but can be started from any point on the route. So also from the center of Apeldoorn.
During this route you will pass the Het Leesten nature reserve and the Beekbergerwoud, but you will also cycle through special neighborhoods. Along the way you will encounter various transformer houses, works of art, mills and monuments. For all sights, visit: IVN.nl
Tip: Do you want to extend the route slightly? Then cycle the extra loop past Radio Kootwijk. This route is then 48 km.
