Relive the trading history in the Hanseatic cities of Elburg and Hattem! Time seems to have stood still there since the Middle Ages. The cycle route ‘Hanze Route – North’ partly follows the track of the old Hessen roads. These former trade routes were previously used by German merchants (from Hesse). Moreover, you cycle straight through the Elburg Fortress. The Fortress reflects the rich past of the fishing town of Elburg; the rectangular, medieval street plan is still completely intact. Imagine yourself as a trader as you cycle past the impressive ramparts, canals full of fish and the old city wall.

Do you want to shorten or lengthen the route along the way? At each junction you will find a map on the information panel and you can easily adjust your route yourself.
