There is plenty to enjoy on and along the Gelderland rivers. The Rhine flows past picturesque towns, castles, museums and the nicest terraces.
The rivers in the Arnhem region are the blue gold of the landscape and form a treasure of cultural-historical heritage. You will find numerous sights and the best places to visit along the rivers. This route along the Rhine starts at the medieval Doorwerth castle. The castle is beautifully green and situated in the floodplains with a view of the Veluwe moraine. You can still experience how people used to live on an estate. Along the way you will also pass through the center of Arnhem, where you can go to the characteristic Eusebiuskwartier at Dudok Arnhem for a cup of coffee with delicious apple pie from our own bakery. Dudok is located in the national monument Van Ranzow’s Bank from 1920 and has a large and sunny terrace with a view of the impressive Eusebius Church. You continue the route on the south side of the Rhine where you cycle over the dike and look out at the Driel lock and dam complex.
Do you want to shorten or lengthen the route along the way? At each junction you will find a map with junctions with which you can easily adjust your route.
