The Veluwezoom is known for ‘Gelders Arcadia’, the landscape of vast estates, country estates and castles. You cycle through the western part of this area, beautifully situated between De Hoge Veluwe National Park and the Lower Rhine.
The hilly landscape of the Veluwezoom always had a lot to offer
appeal to wealthy families. They built theirs there
country houses and built the most beautiful gardens and parks. That’s why it stands
the Veluwezoom now known for ‘Gelders Arcadia’; the area of
extensive estates, country estates and castles. This route
takes you through the western part of this area, beautifully situated
between De Hoge Veluwe National Park on the north side and the river
the Lower Rhine on the south side. The route starts at Mariëndaal Estate
where you will find the famous ‘Green Bedstead’. This is a tunnel-shaped one
beech hedge of over 300 meters long. You cycle underneath along the way

a drink.
