The military cycle route ‘Rondje Bennekom’ takes a varied route past 4 information panels with war stories. Along the way you cycle through the Sysselt, past Bennekom and past the former ENKA site.

Through the woods
You cycle east of the barracks through the adjacent Sysselt. An old forest area with beautiful vistas, idyllic houses and here and there a piece of arable land, which is sometimes dug up by wild boars. The route runs around Bennekom through a varied landscape.

The former ENKA
The site of the former ENKA is located south of the Ede-Arnhem railway line. The artificial silk factory, like the former barracks located further north, played a major role in the development of the municipality of Ede. Employment was created, special residential areas for employees were built, as well as a swimming pool and cinema: the current Hotel Reehorst on the Bennekomseweg.

Both the ENKA area and the barracks sites have now largely been transformed into modern residential areas, while retaining a lot of greenery, authentic sight lines and buildings.
