Around Kootwijk there are rolling forests that are typical of the Veluwe. Discover this beautiful area and enjoy the peace and quiet in this impressive area.
There is a serene tranquility between the rolling forests and heathlands of the Veluwe. Start this route with a nice cup of coffee or tea at Bospaviljoen ‘t Leesten. During this cycle route you will pass one of the most special locations on the Veluwe: Radio Kootwijk and the former broadcasting station. You will also find a small settlement, hidden in the Ugchelse Bos junction 44 and 41; the Sheepfold of Hoog-Buurlo. A herd of Veluwe heath sheep stays here at night. These sheep graze the heath during the day, where you will also find special plants such as heath spurry, sand sedge and rough maidenhair moss. In autumn and winter the maidenhair is green, but in spring it turns a beautiful red.
Do you want to shorten or lengthen the route along the way? At each junction you will find a map on the information panel and you can easily adjust your route yourself. Visit one of the tourist information locations to receive a copy of the route booklet!
