Discover the beauty of nature in the heart of Gelderland while cycling and walking. Would you like to discover a photogenic landscape, activities for the whole family and the scoop on a special exhibition made with LEGO®? The Tour de Transport has it all! As a LEGO lover, you can indulge yourself this year in CODA Museum Apeldoorn. The traveling exhibition Traveling Bricks (April 21 to August 25, 2024) focuses on sea, air, land and space. In 60 scenes you can admire more than 120 LEGO models, built by professional LEGO artists. You’ll see iconic vehicles such as a ship over seven meters long, a zeppelin, carriage and rocket. You can also get started yourself: 200,000 bricks are ready for you to build your own car, bicycle, train or boat. Along the route you will discover architecture and attractions and the many different landscapes that the Veluwe has to offer: from Het Loo Palace, Radio Kootwijk, Het Woldhuis, the town hall and the VSM steam train, or heathland to wander across or capture in photographic (miniature) stories.
Did you know that Apeldoorn is located at a crossroads of roads and trade routes? Due to its favorable location, Apeldoorn developed faster and stronger than surrounding villages. Dirt paths are paved, asphalt roads are widened, the canal is dug and railways are built. As a growing city, Apeldoorn is faced with many developments in the field of transport. Various transport brands have also emerged in the region, such as Sparta, manufacturer of mopeds and bicycles. The historical collections of CODA Museum and CODA Archive contain numerous photos, maps and objects that testify to this development. A selection from the CODA collections is presented at the Traveling Bricks exhibition.
