About the Noord-Ginkel
During the tour of North Ginkel you will discover the versatility of this area. In addition to the heathland, you also see small agricultural fields and the adjacent forest. You also take a look at the Plas van Ghent and the Kreelse plas. With a bit of luck you will see the shepherd with his flock or experience an impressive military exercise.

Admire the purple heather
The Noord-Ginkel is a vast heathland area. Various types of heather grow here, including the common heather, the common heather and the rare crow heather and lavender heather. In August and September the heather blooms beautifully purple. This provides spectacular views.

Discover the military history
The Ginkelse Heide has a rich military history . For example, in September 1944, approximately 2,200 paratroopers landed on the heath during Operation Market Garden. This is commemorated every year during the Airborne Airborne Landings. The bond between Ginkelse Heide and defense is still strong: military exercises take place regularly. Don’t be surprised if a military helicopter flies exceptionally low over the treetops.
