Discover the beautiful surroundings of Voorthuizen! Walk along the countryside, discover the Wilbrink forest and experience the Zeumeren recreation area with this 15 km route.

Rondje Voorthuizen takes you along the edges of Voorthuizen and lets you explore the beautiful surroundings of Voorthuizen!

Along the way you will pass the Wilbrinkbos, where you can find heathland, ponds, fens and the Zandbergen country house. The Wilbrinkbos has a rich history due to its location on an old Hessenweg. An old trade route from Amersfoort to Deventer ran here and dates back to the 13th century. The Zandbergen estate was created on this road. Huize Zandbergen became the property of Willem Wilbrink Sr. in 1832 and remained the property of the family until 1962. Willem Wilbrink Sr. and his sons Willem Wilbrink Jr. and Gerrit Jan Wilbrink have been very committed to preserving nature and the landscape in the area.

You will also pass the Voorthuizen ring road, where flint tools and hearth remains were found in a meadow next to the Overhorsterweg from 9000 to 5000 BC. This makes it the oldest hunter-gatherer site in Gelderland.

You can also walk along the Zeumeren recreation area, where there is plenty to do. For example, here you will find the highest natural point in Voorthuizen on the Goorderweg!
