The park forest of Landgoed Voorstonden was created more than 200 years ago. And this can be seen. Be surprised by the stately old tall beeches and oaks.
Discover the winding paths and romantic bridges. This walk takes you through the past, present and future. In addition to the old stately tall beeches and oaks, the large dead trees have also remained standing. The rare middle spotted woodpecker makes good use of this by chopping holes in the trees in search of beetles and larvae. Who knows, you might hear one rumbling during your walk! The history of the paper industry is also visible here through the water around the Voorstonden estate. The flowing water from the Veluwe used to power the paper mills.
There is still a thick redwood tree on the estate. This has a circumference of 8.2 meters. In addition to the old and dead trees, a new part has also been planted in the park forest, so that the park can last another two centuries. Make a stop at the pond along the way and who knows, you might spot a kingfisher!
Are you visiting the estate from April to October? Then bright red cattle graze in the meadow: a traditional Dutch breed of cattle that is not found outside the Netherlands.
Accessibility
The paths of this route are semi-paved and are therefore suitable for strollers and wheelchair users. There are 2 disabled parking spaces in the parking lot. Want to take a rest along the way? There are three benches along the path. There is a picnic area including an accessible picnic bench at the starting point in the orchard. Please note: there is no wheelchair-accessible toilet here.
