The route called “Vlinderdas4kids” is an educational walk for children between 6 and 12 years old in the Vlinderdas area, near the Edese and Ginkelse heath. The length is 3 kilometers and if you walk slowly it will take you about an hour and a half.
The route called ” Vlinderdas4kids ” is an educational walk for children between 6 and 12 years old in the Vlinderdas area, near the Edese and Ginkelse heath. The length is 3 kilometers and if you walk slowly it will take you about an hour and a half.
During the walk you will find posts with a QR code. If you scan it, you will hear a story told by animals that live or have lived in this area. The children are also given various assignments to complete during the tour, such as: Who can jump as far as a squirrel? What do you actually know about bumblebees?
The route starts and ends at the Veluwe Nature Center on the Groot Ginkelseweg in Ede. There you can borrow a backpack with supplies you need during the walk. There is also a booklet with accompanying text. There are no costs associated with the Vlinderdas4kids walking route. You do pay a deposit of 10 euros in advance to borrow the backpack. If you return the backpack neatly with all your belongings after the walk, you will get the amount back.
The walking route was set up by students from the IVN nature guide training course in collaboration with the Veluwe Nature Center. The idea is to introduce children, and indirectly also adults, to this beautiful piece of nature in a playful way. We want to make children enthusiastic about going outside and experiencing what is happening around them.
