Anton Pieck, who doesn’t know him. His name is synonymous with nostalgic Dutch atmosphere and conviviality. When you think of Anton Pieck, you immediately think of romance, fairy tales and the Efteling. But Anton Pieck was not just that touch of cuteness that you also long for. Anton Pieck was much more.

Anton Pieck was perhaps the most productive, versatile artist, graphic artist, calendar illustrator, book illustrator and Fairytale Forest designer that the Netherlands has known in the 20th century.

In the retrospective exhibition of the Anton Pieck Museum you get an in-depth and educational look at the work and life of Anton Pieck. The museum displays an extensive collection of his oeuvre, provides an educational insight into the work and explains the various techniques he mastered. Are you more interested in one of the disciplines? Then there is the almost endless digital image bank in which almost all of his work can be admired.

The museum is easily accessible for young and old, whether they are able to walk or less mobile.

Sometimes on commission and often for relaxation, Anton Pieck made more than 100 oil paintings. Thanks to the cooperation of private owners, the museum has been able to create an exhibition of only paintings before 2024. Some copies have never been shown to the general public before.

In 2024, Efteling will lend the design drawings and attributes of the fairy tale “the Wolf and the Seven Goats” to the Anton Pieck Museum. It has become a fascinating exhibition for young and old. The drawings show that it was a tough search for Pieck that led to a warm, homely atmosphere. Seen everything? Then put yourself in the shoes of the smartest goat and take a hilarious selfie.

This year’s guest exhibitor is Marius van Dokkum with his hilarious drawings from the children’s book series Opa Jan. Grandpa Jan is a smart but chaotic man who has many pets.
