With five buildings and a tunnel under the street, the Dutch Bakery Museum in Hattem is the largest and most versatile Bakery Museum in our country. In addition to demonstrations for individual guests and baking activities for groups, children can get started every Saturday and during school holidays.
Tip: check the website for the activities agenda.
In a modern bakery, the museum’s bakers show how bread and pastries are produced today. The end result can be enjoyed in the historic Gelagkamer. In our cozy museum shop you can buy a nice souvenir, bread and pastries or another memento for home.
From July 2020, the Dutch Bakery Museum will also use a new location. A venerable building with red shutters that houses a real poffertjes parlor from grandmother’s time. The interior alone is worth seeing! Among all the beautiful things you can see the bakers at work. Baking poffertjes is an art and you will be amazed at the dexterity with which they are baked! When the weather is nice, you can also eat outside on the beautiful square in front of the salon.
For the children there is a fun treasure hunt for rolling pins that an absent-minded baker has lost. The beautiful nineteenth-century bakery is the end point where effort must of course be rewarded.
