The route of this route is characterized by many moraines that formed here approximately 150,000 years ago. The Wageningse Berg and the Grebbeberg have become the exponents of this and this background information gives cycling through such a region an extra dimension.

The Gelderse Vallei is therefore an ideal place to enjoy looking away, sometimes with a view of forest and heathland, but also sometimes the vast horizon of the floodplains along the Lower Rhine.

The route is best completed counterclockwise so that you get the best possible views. On the south side of Wageningen, quite close to the marked route, at Korteburg number 4, is the beautifully situated Oranje Nassau’s Oord nursing home, a beautiful estate with a rich history dating back to the early 17th century. The route takes you further past the villages of Heelsum and Renkum, part of the municipality of Oosterbeek, and then turns north.

This region is also characterized by many sights from the Second World War, such as various museums and defensive walls, but of course you can also regularly relax at one of the attractive catering establishments on the route.
