This walk is about the old Varrena estate on the Veluwe. Varenna is derived from the French ‘Varenne’ and means: area for private hunting. In the 19th century, this area was purchased by a private individual from the West of the Netherlands. The wasteland was cleared and replaced with deciduous and pine trees. Later, a game track was created here with different types of deer and it was used as a hunting area.
