Explore the Oldenaller Estate, a varied estate with forests, wet heathlands, farms and agricultural land.

The area between Putten and Nijkerk in the Gelderse Vallei is ideal for walks and cycling trips, but excursions on the estate are also possible. Relax during a nice walk or bike ride at the sheepfold. This has been converted into a rest and information point and is located along the 8 km long Oldenallerpad. This wooden shoe path leads through castle forest, over farmland, along hedgerows and over heathland.

A striking point on Oldenaller is the castle from 1655, which is not accessible to visitors, but can be admired from the outside. The original canal has been filled in and new water features have been created in landscape style by Zocher, the same style as the castle park. There is a colony of blue herons of about a hundred pairs. Many bats also live there. Natuurmonumenten regularly organizes special bat excursions on Oldenaller.

Also visit the Klein Oldenaller organic farm, which is located next to the castle. The agricultural lands are lined with hedgerows and intersected by streams and ditches. This makes Oldenaller a small-scale farm or camp landscape where it is pleasant to walk.

Delve into the nature of Oldenaller and see the feeding and habitats in coppice groves for countless insects, birds and small mammals such as polecat, ermine and badger. Goldweed grows along the streams and on the higher, nutrient-poor ground, swamp clubmoss, beaked rush and bell gentian occur. On Oldenaller, Natuurmonumenten is turning agricultural land into wet, flowery grasslands, creating forests and wet meadows along the stream, just like in the past. Thanks to careful heathland management, special plants and insects have made a comeback.
