Schovenhorst is famous for its tree gardens. These arose in the 19th and 20th centuries from nursery and forestry experiments with conifers. The estate includes five tree gardens or arboreta: Kleine Pinetum (1852), Grote Pinetum (1901), Josina Park (1906), Arboretum (1938) and Driecontinentenbos (1967). Three themed walks have been set out on the estate: tree gardens, heritage and forest. The routes are described in the brochure and indicated with posts with colored pictures: green for the tree gardens, red for cultural history and yellow for the forest.
Also book a tour. A guide will take you through the forest and tree gardens and tell you all about the estate. A tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, costs 5 euros per person and is only on request. The group size is a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people. For larger groups, more guides are assigned.
You can walk the three routes using the signage. Brochures of the routes are available at VVV Putten.
