Doesburgermolen

Doesburger Molenweg 2, Ede

The Doesburgermolen is one of the oldest mills in the Netherlands and is known as a closed standard flour mill.

This mill is named after the hamlet halfway between Ede and Lunteren where it is located, and is considered one of the oldest mills in the Netherlands. The year 1507 is scratched into the stand. In general, little is known about the mill’s history, but it is known that windmills have existed in Ede and the surrounding area since ancient times. The mill was probably originally intended to grind grain.

An interesting fact is that the oldest part of the mill, the stand, has been dated to approximately 1620 using annual ring research. Since 1950, the mill has been managed by the Municipality of Ede, which bought the mill from the previously private owner.
