Veluwe-TOP Woudhuizen

The Woudhuizen Estate lies east of Apeldoorn. It originated from a series of estates. Forests, meadows, old lanes, hedgerows, and historic buildings have remained largely unchanged. Traditionally a wet and marshy area, it’s now a wonderful place for walking. From this TOP, you can follow several signposted hiking trails, including a KIDS Klompenpad (Clogs Trail).

🚴 Discover the IJssel Valley! The “Smulroute de Kar” (Smul Route) takes you through the meadows surrounding Apeldoorn, passing (close to) places along the way, such as Molen de Hoop (the Hoop Mill), where you can taste and buy delicious regional products.

🚶 Hike one or part of the “Apeldoorn on Foot” route. These are 10 different routes that run from Apeldoorn station to the surrounding areas. For example, try the Beekbergerwoud route.

🌲 Did you know that history unfolded in the Woudhuisbos? Experience the story of the Battle of the Veluwe at “Battle for the Five Woods” in the Woudhuizerbos. The Woudhuizerbos is also known as “the Five Woods” because the Allies divided the forest into five colors for the battle of April 1945. Walk past bunkers, trenches, and listening points in the military training area. An impressive experience surrounded by nature, where history comes to life.

🅿️ You can reach Veluwe TOP Woudhuizen via the A50 and A1. From Zutphensestraat, take the exit to Woudhuizermark, where you’ll reach the parking lot.
