Nederlands Pluimveemuseum

Hessenweg 2A, Barneveld

The Dutch Poultry Museum is located in Barneveld. A unique museum where the fascinating history of chicken and egg is depicted in a contemporary way.

We show how poultry farming has developed from traditional, small chicken coops to modern, animal-friendly forms of housing. View the antique incubators, one of which is still in operation, and follow a chick as it hatches. The fluffy chicks can still be held!

The Poultry Museum still has a traditional auction room with an interior from approximately 1930. Here eggs and items from the museum shop are auctioned. Participate in an auction and buy a box of eggs, a bottle of eggnog or a nice souvenir by pressing a button to stop the authentic auction clock at the right time.

Chicken garden and playground

In the extensive fowl garden, admire the more than 20 old Dutch fowl breeds with their beautiful and varied colors. Naturally, the world-famous Barnevelder is not missing from the collection of chickens. Next to the chicken garden, a beautiful playground has been created for the little ones with fun “chicken equipment”.

For young and old

The Poultry Museum is fascinating for young and old. Search letters with questions have been created especially for young people. A scavenger hunt through the museum using the scavenger hunt makes the visit extra fun and exciting for young visitors.

Coffee room and museum shop

Got thirsty or hungry? In the coffee room you can have a nice chat while enjoying a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of soft drink. Enjoy a cookie or sandwich and of course chicken soup. End your visit in the museum shop, where you will find fun and useful items to take with you as a souvenir or as a gift. Everything of course with a chicken and egg theme.

Accessibility

The Dutch Poultry Museum is very spacious. Both the museum and the chicken garden are easily accessible for wheelchair users.
