The Schootsveld parking lot is within walking distance of Elburg’s historic center. From this parking lot, you can quickly reach the center or start your cycling route.
⛵ Elburg is a fishing village. People used to fish on botters. Botters are fast sailing ships, ideally suited for navigating the shallow waters of the Zuiderzee. Elburg was a prosperous town affiliated with the Hanseatic League. When trade declined, Elburg relied on fishing. This period has shaped the characteristic places you can see in the town today.

🅿️ From Zuiderzeestraatweg Oost, take the exit at the roundabout onto Zwolscheweg (towards Elburg Fortress). The parking lot is on the left. Parking is free, and it’s only a few minutes’ walk to the fortress.
