The Posbank is named after the stone monument that was erected here in 1921 in honor of Mr GA Pos, former chairman of the ANWB. During that time he made a great effort to, among other things, create recreational cycle paths and signage.

The Posbank Pavilion is a sustainably built tea house made from materials from its own forest and with a grass roof. The owner is Natuurmonumenten. There is a large parking lot, but it is advisable – if you come by car – to park it downstairs at the Veluwezoom Visitor Center or the parking lot at the Houtplaats on the Schietbergseweg and then quietly climb up through the woods and over the heath. walking or cycling.

The Posbank is very popular with cyclists due to its height and the winding roads. In 2006 the Giro d’Italia passed here. Arnhemmer Maarten Tjallingii was the first to reach the top of his ‘home mountain’ and thus captured the blue jersey.

An annual running event is the Posbankloop. Every year, around 3,000 runners from all over the country participate in what is also called the ‘most beautiful running course in the Netherlands’. The start and finish are in the center of Velp, the course runs almost entirely through the Veluwezoom National Park.
