The De Hoge Veluwe National Park is not only the largest national park in the Netherlands, in the middle of the park is also the Kröller-Müller Museum with the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world! Immense sand drifts await you in Kootwijkerzand, which is called ‘the Sahara of the Low Countries’. Just like Radio Kootwijk, a striking building that adorns the horizon and that served as a transmission tower a century ago.
Cozy cities and family outings
There is also plenty to do in the area for children. EuroParcs De Zanding is located near Apeldoorn, where you can feel like a prince or princess in Het Loo Palace, watch monkeys in the Apenheul or enjoy an adventurous day in the Julianatoren Amusement Park. For vintage shops and boutiques, a visit to the beautiful city of Arnhem is recommended. Have a bite to eat on the Rijnkade, have a picnic in Sonsbeek Park or visit one of the city’s museums, such as the Open Air Museum and the Arnhem War Museum. Rain or shine, at Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem you alternately walk through a tropical rainforest, a sweltering desert and a colorful underwater world.
