Take a look into the Iron Age and visit the Celtic Fields and Iron Age Farm on the Goudsberg.
Anyone visiting the Celtic Fields on the Goudsberg feels as if they have stepped back in time. At this site, you will find a reconstruction of a farm with accompanying Celtic Fields from the Iron Age. It is no coincidence that you find this reconstruction here: in 1996, it was discovered that five farms once stood on this site, and that one of the largest Celtic fields in the Netherlands was located here.
Celtic Fields
In the Iron Age, Celtic Fields, also known as honeycomb fields, were widely used in agriculture. This is a system of fields measuring approximately 35 by 35 meters, enclosed by a low embankment. Rotating crops were grown in these fields. For example, one year the farmer would cultivate barley, and the next year beans. In this way, the soil became depleted less quickly. The cultivation of crop rotation is still practiced in modern agriculture.
Farm
The reconstructed farmhouse is also known as a Spieker. The shape and dimensions of the farmhouse are an assumption, as no one knows exactly what these spiekers looked like.
Visits
In addition to the farm and the honeycomb fields, during your visit to the Celtic Fields you can also enjoy the surroundings from the viewing platform and take a lunch break at the picnic bench. Are you coming by car? Then you can park close to the Celtic Fields.

The area around the Goudsberg is perfectly suited for a beautiful walk or bike ride. The following routes take you past the Celtic Fields and Iron Age farm:
