This old estate is named after the medieval neighborhood of Noordwijk. The prefix ‘Grote’ is used to distinguish from the Kleine Noordijk estate on the other side of the road.
In the 17th century there was a simple farm on this site. In the centuries that followed, various owners expanded the farm into a large estate and the farm was expanded and converted into a wealthy country house. In recent years, large-scale restoration and renovation of the estate has begun. For example, the gardener’s house and both rear houses of the country house have been restored to their former glory and given a new purpose.
