Park Pavilion

The Park Pavilion opened in June 2019. The Park Pavilion is the ideal base for your day in the Hoge Veluwe. This new, multifunctional public building houses Restaurant De Hoge Veluwe, the Park Shop and the halls.

The theme of sustainability was one of the starting points when designing the building. That starts with optimal use of the available spaces. There are a large number of solar panels on the roof of the Park Pavilion. Furthermore, the position of the building is such that in the summer, during the hottest part of the day, little or no direct sunlight can penetrate the building, while in the winter the sun has plenty of room to shine in and thus damage the building. to heat. A so-called WKO installation (WKO: heat and cold storage) is used to heat and cool the building.

The name Park Pavilion was chosen from almost two hundred entries from visitors. This name was chosen because the name says something about the function of the building. The jury found the name extremely appropriate because the term pavilion generally refers to a structure for relaxation or entertainment. In Dutch, the definition has also been expanded to include diverse spaces that are characterized by individuality in form, function and use.
