The site covers approximately 343 hectares and has been used by various groups of people over the centuries.

You will find burial mounds and the Roman Marching Camp. In Roman times, around the year 170, there was a marching camp for the Roman army that was about 9 hectares in size and could accommodate about 4000-6000 legionnaires. Nowadays the site is largely used as a nature reserve and is available for daytime recreation. The site is crossed by cycling, walking and horse riding paths. The heath is grazed all year round by a flock of sheep.
