The 170-year-old estate is known for its five tree gardens. These originated in the 19th and 20th centuries as nurseries and forestry experiments with conifers.
Now it is pleasant to wander and several carefully planned walks help you discover the estate, such as majestic trees, mysterious paths, old Hessian roads and burial mounds from the Bronze Age.
There is also the option to be taken in tow by a guide, who can tell all about the estate. But ultimately no one can show the secrets of the estate better than the trees themselves: Such as the proud Giant Sequoia trees in the Kleine Pinetum that grew more than 40 meters high in 170 years, fluffy Japanese Trees of Life on which nuthatches live, the oldest Douglas fir in the Netherlands and even more. many more special trees from all over the world.
Our Brasserie is located in the walled garden of the Schovenhorst Estate on the Veluwe in Gelderland. Want to warm your hands after a walk in the fresh air or cool down with a delicious seasonal beer on tap? Whether you are a big or a small eater, we are ready for you! If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, we would also like to take that into account.
The Schovenhorst estate also has a special experience to offer: a forest on top of the Bostoren! Not only this forest is special. The road there is also an adventure in itself. The Bostoren is a climb of 235 steps. The view at the top is definitely worth it. With the forest below you, you look out over Amersfoort, the Veluwe and the windmills in the polder. There is also plenty to do in the tower itself; a wall with nesting boxes and a chilling climbing net. Once at the top of this architectural masterpiece you will be rewarded with a beautiful view. Climb the 40 meter high Forest Tower and discover it with your own eyes!
