Just outside Elburg’s historic center, near the harbor, is the “De Oude Vos” parking lot. Parking is free. The parking lot is just a few minutes’ walk from the center. From Flevoweg, turn onto Havenkade and then take the main road to the right just before ‘t Boothuis restaurant. You’ll then arrive directly at the parking lot.
⛵ Elburg is a fishing village. People used to fish on botters. Botters are fast sailing ships, ideally suited for navigating the shallow waters of the Zuiderzee. Elburg was a prosperous town affiliated with the Hanseatic League. When trade declined, Elburg relied on fishing. This period has shaped the characteristic places you can see in the town today.
